Business Development Executive

As a Business Development Executive at Edinburgh Innovations you will join an expanding, enthusiastic team delivering translation and commercialisation services for academic staff in one of the world’s leading universities in a city regularly voted one of the best places to live in the UK.

You will provide proactive business development services for academic staff at the University of Edinburgh, primarily in the University’s College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine.

There is one post available focusing in the human healthcare space.

We are seeking dynamic, proactive candidates with technical expertise in areas of life sciences of relevance to the human health research institutes (the Usher Institute of Population Health Sciences and Informatics, the MRC Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine, the Institute for Regeneration and Repair, the Queen’s Medical Research Institute and Edinburgh Neuroscience).

As the first point of contact for all commercialisation activities supported by EI in the targeted area, you will need to develop effective relationships with academic staff and understand their research interests and activities and be able to identify translational opportunities.

This is a diverse and challenging role requiring a confident and highly motivated professional with experience in business development, industrial engagement, translation of research and external relations. A background in data led healthcare is desirable though not essential. Experience of, contractual negotiation is also desirable.

Edinburgh Innovations seeks an experienced graphic designer to provide creative solutions to engage with EI’s audiences, including academic staff, students and industry partners, across a range of digital and traditional media.

You will join a busy and creative team, actively providing input on projects and presenting design ideas to EI colleagues. You will be expected to quickly understand our audiences and work together with the team and external suppliers to produce high quality design output.

Investment Analyst

Edinburgh Innovations seeks an investment Analyst to support the Fund Manager and Investment Executive in the day to day management of Old College Capital (OCC) and Edinburgh Technology Fund (ETF). Old College Capital (OCC) is a Scottish Limited Partnership (SLP) and the in-house venture capital investment fund of the University of Edinburgh (UoE).

The post holder will have responsibility for supporting the overall development and execution of transactions for both funds, whilst taking the lead on internal recordkeeping, analysis and reporting for ETF.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Researching and evaluating investment propositions, including industry, market sizing and competitor analysis.
  • Assist in executing investment transactions
  • Internal recordkeeping, analysis and reporting for the ETF portfolio.
  • Engaging with ETF portfolio companies as the lead point of contact.
  • Support the development of OCC, ETF and Edinburgh Innovation’s investment activity.
