Head of Business Development – College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (CMVM)


We are looking for a proactive, collaborative leader able to work at pace to build on the tremendous successes already achieved in CMVM. This person will continue to drive the knowledge exchange and industrial engagement activities throughout CMVM and secure major industrial and translational awards.

The ideal candidate will be able to develop effective relationships with senior staff in CMVM, especially the Dean of R&I, the leadership team and academic staff and to understand their research interests and activities. You will also need to work across EI and with senior academics and staff across the University of Edinburgh. External contacts are also essential to the post and include individuals in all related industries, funding bodies and other Universities.

You will lead the Knowledge Exchange and Commercialisation (KEC) support and develop and deliver an Industrial Engagement (IE) plan and KEC strategy in keeping with the objectives of the relevant Institutes and College.

You will be expected to find opportunities to increase revenue and build coalitions around the delivery of those projects, meeting tight deadlines and targets and motivating and managing your team to perform also.

Consultancy Associate – College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (CMVM)


Joining a close knit team within Edinburgh Innovations, you will be working with academics mainly based at the University’s Easter Bush Campus, providing tailored advice and professional support to academic staff looking to secure consultancy opportunities. This role will be primarily supporting the Roslin Institute, Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and wider Easter Bush Campus working with researchers focused on animal health and global food security. The role will sit within the wider college of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine’s Business Development Department. As such as there may be opportunities to engage within medicine as per demands.
